Horses are herding animals, living in social groups and feeding together. The individual animal feels safer in a group than alone. For the training of standard behaviour especially in the foal stage the group is irreplaceable. The mutual body grooming reduces sickness and overcomes the fear of contact. Many health problems and disturbing behaviours are caused by the withdrawal from these basic needs.
