In memoriam: Helmut Allié, founder of the PATURA company

In memoriam: Helmut Allié, founder of the PATURA company

On 16 April 2020, the founder of the PATURA company passed away at the age of 92. His lifelong, extremely close relationship with the company is expressed by the fact that Helmut Allié was able to stop by the company almost on a daily basis, until six weeks before his death.

Helmut Allié was born on August 24th, 1927 in Marburg and grew up with four other siblings on his parents' agricultural farm. In addition to the farm, his father had set up a smithy in his home town of Todenhausen.

After completing commercial school and an agricultural apprenticeship, Helmut left his home town for new opportunities far-off.

For several years, he was the administrator on various agricultural farms in southern Hesse. During this time, he met his wife, Martha, who became his greatest supporter over the following seven decades, not only in his private life but also in his profession.

In 1955, Helmut Allié became a salesman for the Ködel & Böhm products at the company of Walter Zeier in Miltenberg. After the much too early death of his boss in 1961, Helmut Allié remained loyal to the company, which was continued by Mrs. Zeier.

In 1965, the then market-leading manufacturer, Ködel & Böhm, enabled him to take the step into self-employment as a sales representative, as he was one of the most capable and successful salesmen nationwide. Helmut Allié was more than shocked to learn of the planned sale of this almost 100-year-old traditional company to Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz AG (KHD) in 1969. In early 1970, against his wife's advice, he turned down an extremely attractive offer from KHD to remain working with them as an employed salesperson in his traditional field.

For months, Helmut Allié financed himself only through his savings. He risked a new start in his career by working hard on a cooperation with ten small and medium-sized manufacturers, whose products he has successfully marketed in agricultural machinery businesses in Hesse and Lower Franconia.

At the end of 1980, Helmut Allié again had the right "nose" by taking over the exclusive agency of a worldwide leading New Zealand electric fence manufacturer for a large part of Germany. He sent his son, Bernd, to New Zealand for three months and thus laid the foundation for the internationalisation and further, steady expansion of the company.

At the end of 1992, he finally succeeded in persuading his son to take over the company. Instead of going into his well-deserved retirement afterwards, he continued to work hard and tirelessly for almost 25 years. He established a network of distribution partners in Austria and South Tyrol. Until the end, his whole interest was focused on the company and its employees.

No words can adequately express our deep sorrow at losing our highly esteemed senior boss.

We will always honour Helmut Allié's memory.
